Die Serie "Bunker.I" ist die erste einer Reihe von Arbeiten in denen Patricia Sevilla Ciordia ihre Kamera und unsere Aufmerksamkeit auf die Präsenz von Hochbunkern innerhalb der Stadt fokussiert. Außer Kontext, unbequem und lästig aber auch beeindruckend und fast unzerstörbar, haben diese massiven erstickenden Objekte aus dunklem Beton eine Existenz, die ratlos zwischen Sinnlosigkeit, alltäglicher Vergessenheit, Ort der Erinnerung und der Suche nach einer neuen Identität schwankt. Mit diesem Projekt folgt die spanische Fotografin einer Arbeitslinie, die sich mit Berlins Dasein als Stadt im Wandel und Ort der Vergangenheit/Gegenwart beschäftigt.
In April 2002 the expert commission "Historische Mitte Berlin" suggested (with 8 votes against 7) the reconstruction of the old Prussian palace (Schloß) and therefore to demolish the Palace of the Republic, old home of the East German Parliament as well as a big cultural and social centre of the disappeared GDR.
We recognize some objects by the shape they have... from far!
The real experience in situ (in place) of big objects, like buildings or monuments, opposes to the previous mental image that often we have of those objects either by our cultural background either by a previous preparation to the visit of these big objects (as traveller's guides, postcards and so on).
